I’ve made an appointment — now what?
-
Drop off appointment times are typically 9:15am-9:45am (this time is subject to change for offsite clinics at the Fairgrounds) at our shelter location in Paris. We do not accept appointments outside of these times. We will send out a reminder text. Deposits to make an appointment are now REQUIRED. Deposits are nonrefundable.
-
Please bring a valid ID with you. Payment is is accepted prior to your appointment or at drop-off. We accept either cash or card. There is a $3 card fee. For quicker service when paying with cash, please bring the exact amount. Don’t forget to add on sales tax. *WE DO NOT HAVE CHANGE*
-
Animals will be ready for pickup no later than 3:30pm. We will contact you to let you know when your pet(s) are out of surgery. Animals must be picked up by 3:30pm the SAME day. This time is subject to change and will be communicated at the time of drop-off. Animals not picked up the same day are subject to a minimum charge of $100 and considered abandoned and surrendered if not picked up.
-
Pet owners are encouraged to speak with their primary veterinarian prior to making an appointment to discuss the best course of treatment for their pet. We do not offer pre-anesthetic blood-work and highly recommend any pets with known health issues, brachycephalic pets (smooshed faces, like Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers, Persians), and animals over 7 years old go to your full service veterinary clinic. This service is not meant to replace your regular clinic, but to help those in need of spay/neuter. If you have questions, please contact us.
Morning of to-do for your pets
-
Please refrain from feeding your pets the morning of surgery. Water is OK. If your pet has eaten before surgery, please let our team know when you arrive. If your pet is a kitten, puppy, or is prone to becoming hypoglycemic, please contact us before your appointment to discuss an alternate feeding protocol.
-
Bring your pet in a secure carrier. Dogs can be on a leash. Cats MUST be in a secure carrier, crate, or trap. Please do not bring cats in boxes, bags, or loose.
-
Don’t forget your valid ID and payment.
-
If your pet is current on it’s vaccinations through a veterinarian, please bring those records with you. Without current proof of vaccines, we are required to update them while they are here for surgery.
-
Microchips are required unless an outdoor cat or the animal is already chipped.
I’ve picked my animal up, what can I do?
-
Read over your post-op instructions you receive when you pickup.
-
Ensure your pet is NOT licking it’s incision. If you see it starting to bother the incision, it needs to wear a cone of shame. We are not responsible for injuries to incisions and do not provide cones, but are happy to put one on your pet if provided at drop-off.
-
Do NOT give your pet any pain medication that isn’t prescribed by a veterinarian.
-
Keep all female animals away from male pets for at least 2 weeks, ideally 4.
-
All pets should remain indoors for at least 24hrs and dogs walked on a leash. Anesthesia can make pets unaware of their surroundings and put them in danger.
-
You can offer food and water a few hours after your pet is awake and alert. Some pets vomit after surgery and this can be normal.
-
No baths for at least 10 days.
PRICING
UPDATE JANUARY 2026: Pricing includes the mandatory $10 deposit.
UPDATE October 2023: We will begin requiring microchips for all surgeries (excluding outdoor/ear tip cats unless purchased separately) unless the animal is already microchipped. This is to help our efforts in getting animals back home if they go missing from their families. Thank you for your understanding and support!
